# Three quick tips
What makes NotePlan truly unique is the ability for you to capture **notes**, plan with **tasks**, and to do all of this with your **calendar** open so that you don’t forget what needs to get done.

1. Getting started is easy, first **create a new note**. After that: On iPhone there is a toolbar above the keyboard for creating and scheduling tasks, plus much more. On Mac, you can mouse over a blank line to reveal the plus button, click to see a list of options for crafting your notes.

2. When a task is already created, you can **schedule** it to show on the calendar. On Mac, hover you mouse next to a task to show the menu button, then click and select to schedule. On iOS, tap or move your cursor to the task line, and then press the clock icon. Try scheduling the below task to Today, then go back to Calendar to see how it shows up.

3. Now go **back to your calendar** to see this task is scheduled for today. The ability to quickly schedule tasks from within a Note is an important way to use NotePlan to stay organized!
